Homemade Ham Pizza (Gluten Free, Dairy Free)
It’s FriYAY which means bring on the weekend and the homemade pizza. This Easter, my aunt decided to change it up and we tried a Smithfield Ham, also known as a “country ham.” It’s delicious, but superrrr salty because it’s been aged for so long. We took home some leftovers and have been trying to figure out what to make with it. Then it hit us, why not use it as a topping on a pizza? Well, it did not disappoint! Just remember to set your dough out at least three hours before you’re ready to start cooking. I didn’t use precise measurements on the below recipe because I think it’s best to just eyeball the pizza and add however much you like of each topping. I’m dairy-free, so my husband used cheese on his side, but mine was delicious with just the sauce.
INGREDIENTS:
1 bag of frozen Wholly gluten free pizza dough (any pizza dough will work)
1/2 cup chopped Smithfield Ham
1/2 jar of Rao’s Arrabiata Sauce (it’s my favorite because it’s a little spicy)
handful of arugula
handful of kalamata olives
handful of baby tomatoes (halved)
Flour of choice
DIRECTIONS:
Set your dough out to thaw at least three hours before you start cooking
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit
Once your dough is thawed and good to go, sprinkle your counter with your flour of choice and roll out the dough (be generous with the flour as the dough will be very sticky)
Once you’ve rolled it as flat as it can get, place it on a cookie sheet that has been sprinkled with flour
Bake for ten minutes and then take out
Spread your sauce over the top of the dough and top with all the yummy ingredients listed above
Place in the oven for another 12-14 minutes
Take out and let it cool for 5 minutes (it will be easier to cut this way)
ENJOY!
